We celebrate Eidul-Adha at Webhostville
Eid is a joyous occasion for Muslims all-over the world and at Webhostville we celebrate Eid to mark the end of Hajj, the faith, submission and sacrifice of Ibrahim (as) and Ismail (as).
We take lessons from this occasion and the life of Ibrahim(as) and Ismail(as) that we can apply in our lives and work not just as a matter of faith but also as a matter of personal development. Points of the lessons learnt are:
- Contemplate about life and the source of it.
- Enquire into things we find puzzling to gain firm understanding and conviction.
- Stay firm and resolute in what we believe and understand.
- Help others to understand with wisdom and good argument.
- Strong faith and trust in the Most High One who control all affairs.
- Full submission to the Will of the Creator of all.
- Patience in the face of hardship.
- Forbearance and Hope.
- Bold and forthright in establishing the truth.
- Constance and persistence towards goodness.
- Hard-work to accomplish set goals.
- To lead is to sacrifice.
For his unwavering faith and submission to Allah, the Most High, Ibrahim(as) was blessed after going through series of tests and trials successfully. He was rewarded with Leadership of mankind, a Prophet and Messenger he became and was blessed with progenies among whom were Leaders of mankind, Prophets and Messengers. The last of whom is our Prophet Muhammed (saw). His legacy stays with us till today and we mention him and his family several times daily in our supplications.
From the Quran, Ibrahim(as) made lot of supplications throughout his life and trials and one of them that I love is:
“My Lord! Bestow upon me wisdom and join me with the Righteous. And grant me a honorable mention in later generations. And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight. And disgrace me not on the day when all creatures will be resurrected.” (Surah Ash-Shu’ara – Q26: 83-85, 87)
